Alcohol use (AUDIT)

Drinking patterns and their effect on daily life. Answer the app’s questionnaire and see your result right away.

Answer based on your drinking during the past year. This CareOps version retains the Korean questionnaire's drink counts; serving sizes and alcohol content vary. It is not a country-specific standard-drink assessment. If you do not drink, choose the lowest response for drinking quantity and frequency.

How often do you drink alcohol?

CareOps English translation of its existing Korean questionnaire. Wording, response choices and descriptive score ranges follow the CareOps version and have not been independently validated in English. Drink quantities follow the existing Korean app version and are not calibrated to a particular country's standard drink. Do not use this score to determine a safe drinking level.

Look beyond how much and how often

The AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) is a 10-item screening tool developed by the World Health Organization for use in primary care. The first three items ask how often and how much you drink; the rest ask about finding it hard to stop once you start, missing things you were supposed to do, needing a drink the next morning, guilt or memory gaps after drinking, and concern or injuries related to drinking. You answer about the past year, and this page uses an English translation of the CareOps Korean version, with drink counts that are not tied to any country’s standard drink.

Reading your results

The total ranges from 0 to 40. The result screen shows 0–7 as lower concern, 8–15 as increased concern, 16–19 as higher concern and 20 or more as a range where further assessment is strongly suggested. The same total can come mainly from quantity and frequency items or from items about losing control, morning drinking and memory gaps, and those point to different things to look at. A diagnosis is made in a clinical conversation. If you scored 8 or more, or drinking has caused problems with work, relationships or health, consider going over your drinking pattern with a professional. This score does not set a safe drinking level.

A question to reflect on

For the next two weeks, write one line for each day you drink: the date, roughly how much, who you were with and how you felt just before. Once you see which situations usually lead to the decision to drink, pick one of them and choose one thing to do differently there.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions are in Alcohol use (AUDIT), and how long does it take?
There are 10 questions, and it usually takes about 2 minutes. Each question has its own set of choices; pick the one closest to you. There are no right or wrong answers.
Can I take it if I rarely drink?
Yes. If you don’t drink or drink very rarely, choose the lowest response for the frequency and quantity items. Your score will be low, and it can serve as a starting point for tracking your habits later.
Why does it ask about the past year?
Drinking often changes with holidays, social events and busy periods. Looking at only a week or two can let an unusually heavy or light stretch decide the result, so the AUDIT looks at the pattern across a year.
How should I count a drink?
Answer using the drink counts in the questions. The actual amount of alcohol varies with the type of drink and the size of the glass, so think of what you usually drink and pick the closest answer.
Do I need to sign in? Are my answers saved?
You can see your results right away without signing in. Your answers are used only for scoring and are not stored on our servers.
Can I bring these results into a counseling session?
Use the analysis button at the bottom of the result screen to have a short conversation with Maeumi without signing in. After the conversation, you can continue in the app. The web conversation does not transfer automatically to the app.
Can I share my results with a friend?
Yes. Use Share at the top right of the result screen to send a friend the check itself, or share your result as a link or story image. A result link carries your scores inside the address only; it does not include your name or account, and nothing is saved on our side.
